Films about how Yazaki engineers and builds wire harnesses, from its testing center and plants in Mexico to an automated harness line and a laser weld up close.
Films I made for Yazaki’s engineering teams from 2022 to 2026: the people, the plants and the parts behind its wire harnesses. Many were shown at all-employee meetings, where each region showed the rest of the company what it was building. Each one has its own page with the full story and every cut.
- Tesla Optimus harness film, 2022. One minute of the team building wire harnesses for Tesla’s Optimus robot, from the first parts on the bench to the robot on stage at its reveal.
- Plant films, 2022 – 2023. Two films from one visit to Yazaki’s plants in Chihuahua and Juárez, Mexico: why engineering belongs next to the production floor, and how high-voltage harnesses are built.
- Engineering Testing Center film, 2023. The engineers and technicians who test parts in chambers, under the microscope and on the bench, in their own words, with English, Spanish and social cuts.
- Design for Manufacturing series, 2023. Five short training films at a wire-harness assembly board, one for each reason design matters on the floor: quality, cost, training cost, delivery and safety.
- Corporate Masterline, 2023. Yazaki’s automated wire-harness line, eight stations from cable cutting to packaging, with titles in English and Japanese for the Advanced Manufacturing team to present in Japan.
- Laser weld film, 2026. Why laser-welded connections beat threaded fasteners, told by an engineer over high-speed footage and a few AI-generated shots.
