Virtual Gemba
360° VR tours of Yazaki's plants in Chihuahua and Juárez, Mexico, and of an automated harness line in the training Dojo, with a how-to film for the headset.
Gemba is the Japanese word for the place where the work happens. Virtual Gemba lets people walk Yazaki’s plants in Mexico from a VR headset: the tour moves through the YCC plant in Chihuahua and the Juárez plants in 360°, with a label at each stop, like the automated assembly machines and ultrasonic welding. We used the tours in the R&D Playground, for visitor tours and so associates could see what the plants were like.
A how-to film shows how to put on the headset, use the controller and return it to its dock, and a flat version of the tour ran on a second monitor. In August 2023 I did the same for the automated wire-harness line (the Sento line) in the training Dojo: 360° tours of its process, shown in VR headsets at an exhibition in Japan.
